Pink’s latest Eminem collab happened thanks to “a love letter” and “a lot of wine”

Ryan AylsworthWhat did it take to get Pink and Eminem to reunite on a song? According to Pink, it took a love letter — and a lot of wine.

Eminem, who’s currently blowing up the internet with his anti-Trump rap freestyle, joins Pink on a track called “Revenge” on her forthcoming album, Beautiful Trauma.

“I reached out to him in this case,” Pink tells U.K. morning show Lorraine. “I love him. I’ve always loved him. I think he’s a lyrical genius, and I just wrote him a love letter. I had written this song. I went to the studio, I drank a lot of wine, I wrote ‘Revenge.’”

She continues that she went home and drank even more wine before composing Eminem an email.

“I wrote him an email and I said, ‘I love you. I’ve always loved you. I’ve loved you since you gave me your autograph at the 2001 MTV Music Video Awards. I love that you always work with the same people,’” she says. “I just wrote this love letter, and he just wrote back, ‘OK.'”

When the interviewer points out that “Revenge” may have some controversial lyrics, Pink prefers to describe it as “a funny song.”

“It’s fun,” she says. “There’s nothing serious about it. It’s fun. My mom loves it. We’re good.”

Pink and Eminem previously collaborated on 2010’s “Won’t Back Down” and on the song “Here Comes the Weekend” from Pink’s 2012 album, The Truth About Love.

Beautiful Trauma comes out Friday, October 13.
